SDCDLA Holds Craft Beer Fair

Members of the San Diego Criminal Defense Lawyers’ Association (SDCDLA) took a day off from their busy schedules as they held a craft beer fair, right at Miramar. During the fair, the lawyer-members tasted various craft beers and shopped to their heart’s delight. SDCDLA Executive Director Robert Christensen says it is a priority of their organization to provide leisurely and relaxing activities for their members as their association goes beyond work and networking.

“The SDCDLA understands that lawyering can be stressful. Most of our members juggle schedules that are too tight, and providing them with the avenue to have fun, even if it has to be penciled in to their schedules for many months in advance, is already an achievement for us. We at SDCDLA do not only exist for work-related matters. We exist to help our members take time off for themselves and spend this time with like-minded individuals who can relate them as they have a common ground,” says Christensen. Christensen says as much as possible, the SDCDLA sets-up activities that are not related with lawyering and networking but are helpful for the overall wellness of lawyers. “They say that our profession is being affected by a wide spread epidemic of depression, and while we are not in the position to confirm that, we are in the best position to help our members avoid such. Simple leisure activities like this craft beer fair can at least give them a couple of hours of relaxation with their fellow SDCDLA member,” Christensen Enthuses.

The San Diego Regional Economic Development Council explains why San Diego is considered as one of America’s Craft Beer Capital.

“Consistently recognized as the Craft Beer Capital of America, San Diego’s brewing scene has exploded over the past two decades. With staple names like Stone Brewing, Karl Strauss, Green Flash, and Ballast Point, as well as new-comers like Rough Draft Brewing and Thorn Street popping up almost daily, San Diego provides a diverse array of brewery styles, sizes, and vibes across the county (and even across the border). San Diego is home to more than 130 brew houses, making it one of the most concentrated regions for craft brewing in the country.”

Craft Beer Tours are popular in the San Diego area, as it has a huge number of craft breweries. The beer tours enable visitors to hop from one brewery to another for craft beer tasting. The SDCDLA says supporting San Diego’s craft beer industry is also their association’s way of giving back to the community. “Most of our members are locals of this county, some of us have even lived here since childhood, we practice here, most of our clients are from here, so we really owe a lot from San Diego,” Christensen says.
